Ingredients
Channa dal (Washed and Soaked for 5-6 hrs)- 1 cup
Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped - 4-5 tbsp
Green chilies finely chopped - 4
Salt to taste
Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Ginger grated - 1 tbsp
Asafoetida - a pinch
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Chaat masala
Oil to deep fry
Method
- Drain the excess water from the soaked chana dal.
- Now, in a mixer, grind the dal coarsely,adding 1-2 tbsp of water.
- Take out the coarsely grounded dal in a separate bowl.
- Add remaining ingredients to the dal except oil and mix well.
- Heat oil in a wok on medium flame.
- Take small portion of paste and flatten it into round shape (like vadas) on your palm.
- Deep fry the vadas in oil till it turns light brown in colour.
- Now cut the vadas in two equal halves.
- Again fry these pieces until they become crisp and golden brown.
- Garnish vadas with chat masala.
- Serve hot with green coriander chutney or mint chutney or tomato sauce.
