Poha


Ingredients
Pressed Rice (Poha)- 3 cups
Onions chopped - 1 large
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
A pinch of Asafoetida
Curry leaves - a sprig
Boiled Green peas and roasted peanuts - 1/2 cup
Green chillies finely chopped - 2-3
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Potato boiled and cut into small pieces - 1
Lemon juice - 1 tsp
Oil- 3 tbsp
Fresh coriander leaves finely chopped - 2 tbsp

Method
  • First of all clean the poha.

  • Using a strainer or colander rinse the poha in clean running water. Keep it aside. (Don't rinse too much, otherwise poha will become mushy. Rinse it as much, that it can become moist.)
  • Take a pan and heat oil in it on medium flame. Once the oil becomes hot, add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add asafoetida, and curry leaves. Saute for few seconds. 
  • Add onion, saute for few minutes.

  • Add green chillies and roasted peanuts and green peas, and saute for a minute.

  • Now, add turmeric and mix well. 
  • Add boiled potato and poha. Mix it well and cook on low to medium flame till the poha gets heated.

  • Switch off the flame. Mix lemon juice and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Poha is ready to be served hot.
